Los Marachas

1: You're in a dark room, only lit with three red lights and a screen with Halloween rolling over it. The main theme from the movie fills the room.

2: Three people or on a stage against just about 40 effect pedals. A drummer is carried on stage by a big, bearded man. They're taped together with gaffa.

3: The members are all dressed in shorts and one of them is wearing a Darth Vader mask.

4: The next 45 minutes your ears will be pierced by the sound, loudness and noise coming from these four individuals. Every single note and beat are improvised. By the end of the concert both your ears will be bleeding.

5: You were at the Los Marachas concert in Århus yesterday.

Lasse and I play in Los Marachas along with Leif n from January Jaunt and Casper G formerly in stanley k.

Mimas Needs Guns

Hey guys.

WOW! It's been just about five days since my last post! Sorry! So sorry!

We're working on a cover of This Town Needs Guns song. Which is very crazy cause those guys are way better than us. The song is called '26 Is Dancier Than 4', but we're going to change that to '26 Is Danish For 4'. That's much better! If you don't know these guys, do yourself a favour and listen to them here! You can listen to the song as well. And no, we're not going to play it like they do (as if we can), we're going to change it a lot.

I havn't told anyone else yet, but Mimas will be on national TV in December. I'll post some details on this on our websites soon. It's in danish, so I guess you foreigners find this pretty amusing. Look:

Some way to promote a band! Fuck.

Glögg and Æbleskiver and The Julekalender

This is glögg:

This is Æblæskiver:

This is The Julekalender:

And we're going to enjoy these things tonight. Glögg is red wine, with cinnamon, raisins, almonds and stuff. Æbleskiver is like a pancake, only it has the form of a ball. We're going to get rather drunk, that's for sure.

I think you should listen to this:

Funny myspace adds...

We just got this one:

'Vi har engang spist en hund. Seriøst.'

It means something like 'We once ate a dog. Seriously.'

I like that.

It's my birthday!

Hey faithful readers!

I woke up today at 11 am (after a good night of drinking) and my girlfriend had made me scrambled eggs and bacon! What a great way to turn 24! I got an awesome Project Debut 3 turntable and right now I am listening to the sweet tones of 'Born Into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upward' by the Silver Mt. Zion. I'd love to release some Mimas on vinyl one day.

Nothing interesting to tell you guys today. Hope you're having a great weekend!

Safe,
Snævar

Full moon.

It's full moon and it's staring right at me. It's saying 'Blake! Stop doing that Blake! It's not funny!' But I'm not Blake. I don't even look like Blake. At all. Look at the picture. It's not me. THATS Blake. Not me Mr. Moon.

I bought the danish music magazine Soundvenue 30 minutes ago. It has a review of our record in it. I've mentioned the review before, it's not the best one we've got, but I bought the magazine anyway. I also bought two cokes. The price was over a 100 danish kroners! Stupid! Well... I'm looking forward to read a bit about Deerhoof, Deerhunter and Annuals. And drinking coke. And listening to a very rhough recording I did of a new song we made today. It's a very special feeling leaving the rehearsel studio after having created something with your fellow bandmember that you're really happy about. It's actually not very far from the three bands I just mentioned, if you put in a bit of Animal Collective in as well. And of course... not to forget... the always inspiring... Sigur Rós... and Mogwai (that was a joke). The song might end up being called 'Growing A Moustache In Your Apartment' or 'Throwing A Moustache In Your Apartement'. Whatever you like best. So we're working on six songs at the moment and it's much fun. We really want to start recording some bass and drum tracks in February but we can't really say if we'll have enough songs for an album at that point, but we're going to do our best.

We have a christmas gig in Århus on December 13th at Studenterhuset. We might play a new song or two! As some sort of a christmas present! Can you feel the spirit?! Jesus! Show up!

We're now booked through 5ive Roses Press in Europe, and they will be putting together a big tour for us in June 2009 which will take us to Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria. We can't wait. And hopefully we'll be able to sort some dates out for you english.

Gangster. And now to a metal recommendation:

Gaffa review

Yo shizzle hizzle from the dizzle bizzle!

Gaffa wrote a 4/6 star review on our album, The Worries. The reiview is in danish and you can read it here.

I've been sick as hell the last couple of days, and am hoping that will pass very soon. Hope you guys are well and healthy?!

Funny myspace adds!

This is probably going to be some sort of tradition from now on. Funny Myspace adds! Some ARE funny, some are stupid, some are annoying! And you'll find them here at our blog!

Here is the latest:

'listening to the end of 'dads' is like having warm butter poured all over my balls, amazing.'

It made me laugh!

Safe,

We're now signed to Distile Records!

Hello faithful blog readers.

We can now tell you that Mimas has signed to the very lovely, french, indie-label Distile Records! This means that Distile Records will be releasing our album 'The Worries' in Europe in February 2009 (except the UK and Denmark) We must say that we feel very lucky to be signing to Distile, and now having some good teams backing the band up regarding promotion and distribution in Europe. We will be going on our first European tour on the summer of 2009, and we are really looking forward to it!

Lots of love.

Thanks!

I just wanted to thank everyone who came down to our gig in Århus yesterday. We had a really good time, and we felt that we shared that feeling with you. Both my mom and Daniels mom came to see us play! Also a big thank you to Carlos, who came all the way from London, England to see us play. Now thats cool! He was also so very kind to introduce us to this amazing artist:

You can definitely expect to hear a lot of inspiration from this guy in the next Mimas album. Definitely.

Well. We have some cool news coming your way soon. I hope you all are feeling good, and America: Remeber to vote!
